Body Language of Line

This ongoing collection of figure drawings from life, is inspired by a verbal play on the two phrases, “body language” and “the language of line.” Both of which, rely on a variety of distinctive visual qualities and felt expressions that act as visual cues for communication.

When drawing from the model, I work to create descriptive areas of complexity that exist within a simple whole. By looking for basic lines, shapes and spaces, I can arrange these elements to create a representational image that is also part of my personal visual language.
