About

Ward Saunders currently lives in Richmond, Virginia and works out of his Fulton Hill studio on a variety of projects, including portrait commissions, magazine illustrations and gallery exhibitions.

On Path

Ward’s creative pursuits began in childhood with action figures, Colorforms, and Hot Wheels cars. Playing with these small diversions led to his curiosity of picture-making and design.

His formal training began at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he graduated in 1992 with a BFA in Communication Arts & Design, and again in 2003 with a BFA in Art Education. He also studied drawing and painting at the Art Students League in New York City.
